Do not be scared of taking any of the CLEP other than the math and the sciences! Using the following resources below to complete a Liberal Arts degree I never failed a test. Here’s how to study for the CLEP exams.
Instant Cert
Your primary study source should be Instant Cert. Sign up with them and go through their flash cards several times and let your brain soak up the information. Most, if not all of the tests, can be passed with this resource alone. You will over study when using the cards at first, but that’s okay, it’s better to be over prepared than under. After you have gone through the cards several times, check out the individual thread of your test in the specific exam feedback forum. Hundreds of people have already taken the test and many of them have taken the time to share how they prepared and what you might encounter on the test. Some people even upload their individual notes that you can print out and use yourself.
CLEP Study Guides
This series of study guides is an excellent resource. I found each book that I used to be very comprehensive and I made sure to make use of the practice tests in the back of the book. I would often go to Barnes & Noble, grab a book off the shelf, and take the tests on a notepad I brought with me after reading through the entire text. Read the book more than once and you will often have an adequate amount of information internalized to pass the real exam.
Sparknotes
These books are easier to read than the REA Guides, but they lack practice tests and there isn’t a book for every exam. Some college professors even encourage students to use these instead of the actual designated class textbook. Used books can be purchased for super cheap on Amazon.
Practice Tests
There are free practice tests you can take here if you sign up and create an account. My scores on these practice exams were pretty accurate to what I received on the actual test.
